If you employ Cope Family Law to act for you in relation to your legal matters we will require you to sign a Costs Agreement with the firm. That Cost Agreement sets out a number of matters, including;-
This firm’s professional fees charged are calculated by reference to the amount of time spent. Time is charged in six minute intervals – with six minutes being the minimum interval recorded for professional services. The hourly rates are reviewed each year.
Because we charge on a time scale rather than an event scale it is generally not possible to give a client an exact idea of costs as this will vary from case to case depending on complexity and the issues involved. However based on our experience in family court and de facto matters we can estimate costs to various levels of court matters. When we act for you we provide estimates so that you have an idea what to expect, however those estimates are not quotes for the work and are not binding on this office. This is because your actual legal costs will depend on the amount of time involved in the work done.
We will however undertake a simple Divorce – where there are no complex issues such as separation under the one roof or jurisdictional disputes – for a set fee.
